Your Comfort Is Our Priority
At Alfi Oral, Dental Implant & Facial Surgery it is our goal to ensure patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible while in our care.
Types of Anesthesia
There are a variety of anesthesia and sedation options available at our practice.
Local anesthesia is an injection delivered to the surgical site to numb the area. You will remain comfortable during the procedure, and the numbness will wear off after a couple of hours. This option can be combined with other forms of anesthesia.
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that is inhaled through a mask worn over the mouth and nose. The effects of the gas safely manage anxiety and discomfort during dental procedures to help patients feel relaxed.
IV sedation is administered through the arm or hand and delivers medication that puts patients quickly into a sleep-like state. You will be able to respond to questions but will not be consciously aware. An adult must drive you home after surgery if IV sedation is selected.
General anesthesia is reserved for complex procedures such as jaw surgery or facial trauma, general anesthesia renders you totally unconscious. It is often administered in a hospital or surgical center, and an adult must drive you home afterward.
